Tigers win regular-season finale

SHEBOYGAN – Senior forward Payton Bramstedt scored two goals to lead the Howards Grove Tigers to a 4-1 win over Sheboygan Christian in girls soccer action here Thursday afternoon.

The Central Lakeshore Conference match was the Tigers’ regular season finale. Howards, 8-6 in the CLC and 10-7 overall, will host Christian in a Division 3 regional first-round game Thursday, May 30 at 4:30 p.m. The Tigers are seeded No. 5 and the Eagles, No. 12.

The winner plays the victor of the Sevastopol/Gibraltar-Sturgeon Bay match in the finals Saturday at the higher-seeded team.

Morgan Edge and Jessica Larson contributed one goal each for the Tigers. Larson and Krista Hackbarth had one assist apiece.

The Tigers led 25-5 in shots on goal. Howards goalkeeper Brittany Wehrmann made three saves.

Michaela Tempas kicked the Eagles’ goal.

“We played well as a team tonight. We did a nice job of passing and moving the ball down the field,” said Tiger head coach Eric Worth.

“We let a couple of goal scoring opportunities slip through our fingers but I was pleased with our effort level.”
