Kohler shot 336 in the 18-hole tournament. Saint Mary’s Springs (Fond du Lac) scored an outstanding 314 to place first. The top-two teams and the first three individuals from nonqualifying teams earn state berths.

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters finished a disappointing eighth out of 12 teams with 390. The Resorters were led by senior Ollie Sadiq who finished 19th with an 87 (nine-hole rounds of 43 and 44). Elkhart’s other low golfers were Antonio Bett with a 99, Jake Shovan, 100 and Derek Weiss, 104. Elliot Van Oss also competed for the Resorters.

“Sectionals were tough for us but a great learning experience,” said Resorter head coach Bart Larson.

“Jake had a nice front nine [with a 44]. Ollie played really well and a couple of holes really cost him.”

Kohler’s Logan Willis was the runner-up medalist with a 2-overpar 74. The medalist was Nate Strigenz of St. Mary’s Springs with a 72.

The state meet will be Monday and Tuesday at University Ridge in Madison.
