Comm Ed & Rec summer registration open

Registration is now open for the summer session of Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation programs.

Classes include popular fitness options from Aquatics to Zumba, as well as opportunities for everyone from toddlers to senior citizens. There are 17 new courses this summer, including five new aquatic classes. Among the aquatic classes starting soon are:

Aqua Abs Workout: This new shallow-water workout uses kick boards, noodles and barbells to isolate abdominal and core muscles and strengthen the upper body. Session 1 will meet from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 18 to 27; fee is $10 ($8 for district residents ages 62 and up) until June 7, then $20 ($18). Session 2 will meet from July 9 to Aug. 1 (no class July 23 and 25); fee is $14 ($11 seniors) until June 28, then $24 ($21).

Shallow H2O Fitness: This new class will use water resistance, cardio conditioning, flexibility, range of motion, toning and stress relief for a wellrounded workout. Session 1 will meet from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 18 to 27; fee is $14 ($11 seniors) until June 7, then $24 ($21). Session 2 will meet from July 9 to Aug. 1 (except July 23 and 25); fee is $21 ($16 seniors) until June 28, then $31 ($26).

Shallow Water Wall Toning: Use the wall and water (in a standing position) to isolate leg, glute and core muscles in this new class. Session 1 will meet from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from June 17 to 26; fee is $10 ($8 seniors) until June 7, then $20 ($18). Session 2 will meet from July 8 to 31 (except July 22 and 24); fee is $14 ($11 seniors) until June 28, then, $24 ($21).

In The Deep: This motivational class uses water resistance for a great workout. Participants must be comfortable in deep water, and can use noodles or cuffs. Class meets from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from June 17 to 26; fee is $14 ($11 seniors) until June 7, then $24 ($21).

Water Walking: This selfpaced, self-directed class in shallow water is perfect for those with limited mobility. Just walk at your own pace. Session 1 will meet from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from June 17 to 26; fee is $12 ($9 seniors) until June 7, then $22 ($19). Session 2 will meet from July 8 to 31 (except July 22 and 24); fee is $18 ($14 seniors) until June 28, then $28 ($24).

3 Times the Fun Parent/Tot: Parents will be in the water with their 1- to 5-year-olds to provide a unique, fun bonding experience. Help little ones be more comfortable and safe in the water. Class will meet from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from June 17 to 26 in the Plymouth High School pool; fee is $38/pair until June 7, then $48.

KiddyKeys: Children ages 3 to 5 will explore the piano and learn music concepts. Students will “meet” Beethoven, learn high & low, piano & forte, finger numbers and “Bubble” Hands. Class will meet from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays from June 18 to July 30 (no class July 16) at PHS; fee is $40 until June 7, then $45.

Home Alone: This class will teach safety concepts to children in grades three to five who are home without an adult. They will learn to use 911, what to say on the phone, what to do if the lights go out and how to handle other small emergencies. Class will meet after Summer School from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 at PHS and include a simple lunch; fee is $25 until June 7, then $30.

Babysitting Clinic: Students in grades five through nine will learn how to be babysitters and earn a certificate of completion. Class will meet after Summer School from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at PHS and include a simple lunch; fee is $23 until June 7, then $28.

Tennis U12/14: This new USTA tennis program for boys and girls ages 10 to 14 will engage participants in tennis drills and match play. Class will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays from June 18 to 25 and from July 9 to 23 at PHS; fee is $20 until June 7, then $25.

Adventure Club (Adults & Kids): Each week a different element will be added to the PHS Ropes Course, starting with the low elements and progressing to the high elements. Separate classes will be offered for adults and youths ages 6 to 17 from June 17 to 26 and from July 8 to 24; fee for either age is $50 until June 14, then $55. Adults will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays; youths will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Stress Management: Participants ages 10 and up will learn simple yet effective practices/ skills to assist with managing daily stress and promote relaxation. The first session will meet from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Monday, June 17 at PHS; fee is $8 until June 7, then $13. A second, identical session will be held from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Monday, June 24; fee is $8 until June 14, then $13.

Mama Mia & More: Adults are invited to come to dance, laugh and burn 400+ calories an hour. Music, encouragement and a lot of silly fun will be supplied. Class will meet from 8:30 to 9:45 p.m. Thursdays, June 27; July 11, 18, 25; Aug. 8, 15, 22 at the Plymouth Youth Center; fee is $15 until June 20, then $20.

Online registration is available for most courses at www.plymouth.k12.wi.us/COM.html. This option, which carries a $4 service charge, allows people to pay with a credit card and also to receive immediate confirmation of enrollment.
