10-run first helps Rams cruise past Resorters

Resorter second baseman Cody Wilterdink flipped the ball to Weiss on a grounder. – Photo by Mike McGill ELKHART LAKE – The Random Lake Rams erupted for 10 runs in the top of the first inning to key an 18-7 rout over the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters in Central Lakeshore Conference baseball play here Monday night.

Random Lake, who banged out 24 hits, improved to 1-5 in the CLC (1-6 overall) while the Re- sorters fell to 0-7 (0-10 overall).

Jed Hersey collected three hits to spark Elkhart’s attack which produced eight. Dan Schneider contributed two hits.

Hersey also had a team-high two RBIs. A.J. Klemme and Schneider paced the Resorters in runs with two apiece.

Stuart Zelle took the loss – going the distance and walking six while striking out five.

Random Lake’s individual statistics were unavailable at press time.

In nonconference action on June 4, the host Resorters were clobbered by Brown Deer, 22-0. Brown Deer was helped by 15 walks.

Elkhart was held to only three hits – one each by Tyler Jones, Elliot Van Oss and Schneider. Jake Schimenz ignited the Falcons’ offense with three hits.
