Elaine Johnson, age 80, of Ashland, Wis., went home to her Lord on Sunday morning, June 2, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Ashland, where she had been a resident for the last 17 months.

She was born Dec. 8, 1932 in Plymouth, Wis., a daughter of the late Louis and Magdalena (Sander) Rumpff. She graduated from Plymouth High School and attended nursing school.

On May 17, 1952, she married Raymond W. Johnson at Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Plymouth. They lived in Janesville, Agnew, Washburn and Ashland, Wis.

She was employed at Munsingwear in Ashland, but found her joy in making a home with her husband, Ray, and compiling her family genealogy. Elaine and Ray also enjoyed travel and spending winters with their vacation families in Arizona. Ray, the love of her life, passed away Dec. 31, 2007.

Elaine was also preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lena Rumpff, and her siblings, Dorothy (Donald) Mullen, Glenbeulah, Wis.; Eugene (Gloria) Rumpff, Lompoc, Calif.; Donald (Rose) Rumpff, Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; and Diane (Bill Kester and Donald Weister), Wausau, Wis. She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the Alzheimer’s unit at The Golden Living Center in Ashland. Memorial services are pending. Inurnment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery - Highbridge, Wis.
