PETER EARL COLE

Peter Earl Cole of Plymouth, Wis., passed away Thursday morning, July 4, 2013, at the age of 77, following a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

He was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., on Sept. 1, 1935, to the late Guy and Beryl (Dickinson) Cole. Peter graduated in 1953 from Nekoosa High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1953-57.

Peter married Myra Stewart in July of 1957 in Florida. They moved to California, settling in Sebastopol where they raised six children and two grandchildren.

Peter joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1958. He particularly enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts.

In 1972, Peter earned an associates degree in police science from the junior college in Santa Rosa, Calif. He later taught Police Science at both Santa Rosa and Napa Valley junior colleges. Peter ran his own security company and also worked as a private investigator, specializing in criminal investigation throughout the western states.

Peter returned to Wisconsin in 2006, marrying his childhood sweetheart Becky Reeves (Wilhelmsen) on Sept. 1, 2007.

Peter became an active member of the Plymouth Lions Club. Peter continued to be a faithful servant in the LDS church for over 54 years, fulfilling many callings until his illness prevented him from doing so. Peter was a very loving and caring husband, father, stepfather, and grandparent. He spent his life serving family, friends, neighbors, and strangers with willing hands and a compassionate heart.

Pete is survived by his wife, Becky; four daughters: Katrina, Malina, Faleen (Curt) and Tashia and one son, Douglas, all residing in California. Peter was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Auston (Lily), Bryce, Cheleen, Colbie (Evan), Corrie, Devin, Ochai, Jasine (Aaron), Jazon, Jacoby, Shamae, Shiloh, Tawni and Tucker; as well as 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Phyllis) Cole of Port Edwards, Wis.; and sisters, Ginny Critser and Judy (Rick) Johnson, both of Minnetonka, Minn. He is further survived by his stepson, Scott (Julie) Wilhelmsen of Minnesota, and stepdaughter, Lisa (Dale) Meyer of Wisconsin, along with step grandchildren: Daniel, Jackson, Kera (Paul) and Lauren (Kristofer).

He was predeceased by a daughter, Danielle and brother, Duane.

The funeral service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3920 Saemann Ave., Sheboygan, Wis., on Sunday evening, July 7. Burial took place Monday morning, July 8, at Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Richardson Home Hospice Services and later at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.
