Gus Macker is back for 19th tournament

Registration is in full swing for the 2013 Gus Macker Tournament in Sheboygan. Team registrations are being accepted at The Macker, celebrating its 19th year in Sheboygan, will host nearly 400 teams during its two-day run in Deland Park, August 3-4. Each year for nearly two decades, the tournament has drawn thousands of players and spectators to Sheboygan’s waterfront.

The Sheboygan Macker is known as one of the most beautiful 3-on-3 tournaments, because of its lakeside location. Free-throw expert Mike Scudder, the annual slam-dunk contest and a basketball skills competition are among the other highlights of the 2013 event. With a focus on family fun and benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs, it’s a great family-outing weekend.

The Macker Tournament is designed for anyone to play: male or female, young and old, short or tall, of any experience level. Teams are computer-matched into male and female divisions in Junior, Adult or Top Player categories. The age, height and experience of all four players on each team are considered in bracketing.

The Macker is a double-elimination tournament with a consolation bracket (the Toilet Bowl) for teams losing their first two games. Each team is guaranteed to play three games. To register, go to the Macker website at, click on “Team Registration” and follow the links to the Sheboygan Tournament.
