Four-timer Reinemann heads All-CLC first team

¦ Four Tigers, two Resorters voted to first unit

Senior center fielder Amber Reinemann of Howards Grove was named to the All-Central Lakeshore Conference softball first team for an impressive fourth straight season.

Reinemann is one of seven players who were unanimously voted to the first unit by the CLC coaches. Three of her Tiger teammates were selected to the first team – junior catcher Robyn Bitter, senior pitcher Katie Sohn and junior third baseman Val Free who are all unanimous choices.

The Tigers, who won their third straight league title, lead the CLC in first-team picks.

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters, who finished second, are represented on the top unit by junior pitcher Aryanna Klemme and senior shortstop Charity Rodriguez. Klemme and Rodriguez are unanimous selections.

Tiger senior outfielder Lindsay Krell is on the second team. Earning honorable mention for the Tigers are junior outfielder Sarah Scheiber and sophomore first baseman Lyndsay Peterson.

The Resorters’ Jordan Shaw, a senior outfielder, made the second team. Elkhart has two honorablemention players in senior catcher Emily Grunewald and junior infielder Miranda Sippel. Sippel was a second-teamer last year. Shaw and Grunewald were honorable mention last season.

Reinemann had an outstanding season on offense in league play. She batted .527 with 19 RBIs, eight triple and two doubles. Reinemann had a robust .927 slugging percentage and was 13-for-13 stealing bases.

She played in the Division 3 all-star softball games last month at Wisconsin Dells.

“Amber had a fantastic conference season. She was an outstanding leadoff hitter and a leader of our team. She was a big part of our program the past four years,” said Tiger head coach Tom Heier.

Sohn finished 11-3 with a 2.82 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 82 innings during CLC action. She also hit .333 with 10 RBIs.

“When she was on her game and changed speeds, she was almost unhittable in the conference. She had a great season,” Heier said.

Bitter, an all-league secondteam third baseman last year, batted .426 with 14 RBIs and one home run.

“Robyn had a tremendous year. She was excellent blocking balls in the first and had a solid arm throwing out runners,” Heir said.

Free hit .404 with a .638 slugging percentage, two doubles, three triples and a homer.

“Val stepped up to the plate and switched from her natural position of second base to third as we needed to fill a void when Robyn moved to catcher,” the coach noted.

Klemme posted a 10-3 league record with a 4.25 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 84 innings.

“Aryanna is a hard-working, fun person to have on your team, and she worked hard all offseason, putting in many hours,” said Resorter head coach Brian Feldmann. “She was a great team leader.”

Rodriguez had a terrific conference season at the plate. She batted .574 with 33 RBIs and a .1000 slugging percentage. Rodriguez, Feldmann’s stepdaughter, had six doubles, seven triples and one homer.

“She was a great cleanup hitter and led the league in RBIs and slugging,” said Feldmann.

“She was one of our captains and her fielding was outstanding. Charity worked hard in the offseason.

Rodriguez will attend the University of Dubuque (Iowa) this fall where she will play softball and volleyball.

Krell hit .378 with three doubles and 10 RBIs. Peterson batted .357 with seven RBIs. Scheiber had a .341 average, 11 RBIS and one home run.

Shaw batted .400 with 17 RBIs, two homers and two doubles.

Grunewald hit .370 with three homers and eight RBIs. Sippel batted .378 and had nine RBIs.

Junior utility player Kasie Feind of Cedar Grove-Belgium was voted to the first team for the third consecutive season. Senior outfielder Haleigh Kaiser of Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler is the other first-team repeater.

The other unanimous firstteam player is sophomore infielder Mandi Race of Cedar Grove.
