Tigers’ stifled in regular-season finale

HOWARDS GROVE – Lee Wysocki and Jeremy Wichmann combined on a three-hitter as the Ozaukee Warriors defeated the Howards Grove Tigers, 8-4, in a Central Lakeshore Conference baseball game here Monday night.

The contest, a makeup from July 3 when the game was rained out, was the regular-season finale for both teams. Howards, 13-8 overall, and Ozaukee tied for second in the CLC with 11-7 records. Cedar Grove-Belgium and Sheboygan Lutheran shared the league title at 13-5.

Wysocki was the winning pitcher after he started and threw six innings. He allowed four earned runs on three hits with three walks, three hit batters and four strikeouts. Wichmann closed out the game with a scoreless seventh and recorded two strikeouts and no walks.

The Warriors pulled away after scoring three runs in the top of the sixth to mount an 8-4 lead. Wich- mann drilled an RBI triple and Michael Richter and Jered Bares contributed RBI singles.

Wichmann and Bares keyed the Warriors’ 10-hit attack with two each. Richter led in RBIs with two. Ozaukee was aided by eight walks.

The Tigers, who took advantage of the walks and hit batters, had one single each from Zach Fritz, Terry Fritsch and Ethan Schelk. Contributing one RBI apiece were Bryce Hoffmann, Fritsch, Schelk and Dylan Corbeil.

The losing pitcher was Fritsch who started and went four innings. He gave up six runs (five earned) on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts in four innings. Hoffmann threw the final three innings and allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits with three walks, one hit batter and two whiffs.
