SJB thanks soldiers

Students at St. John the Baptist School’s Student Council have organized a special service project to say thank you to those brave men and women serving the country.

The items that they collected to send overseas include lip balm, lotion, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, bug repellent, sunscreen, Christmas ornaments, travel-size games, candy and socks. These items will arrive in Iraq just in time for the holidays.

St. John the Baptist student Hailey DeSmith knows how hard it is to have someone you love stationed overseas. Her dad, Matt DeSmith, is stationed in Iraq but is currently home on leave.

The gifts collected for the soldiers will be sent to DeSmith’s unit in the Army National Guard.
