Joyce E. Balde, age 68, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away peacefully early Wednesday evening, July 31, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born in Langdon, N.D., a daughter of the late Clifford and Hilda Herber Loewen. She graduated from Sheboygan South High School.

On Dec. 1, 1962, she married Warren Balde at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012. The couple have resided in the Plymouth area since their marriage.

Joyce worked at Arndt’s Restaurant, Prange Way and at Fleet Farm, all in Plymouth.

She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth.

Joyce enjoyed playing cards (especially sheepshead), making jewelry, plastic Canvas Cross Stitch and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband, Warren of Plymouth; two children, Timothy Balde of Plymouth and Ruth (Robert) Williams of Plymouth; six grandchildren: Patricia Balde of Ashland, Wis.; Penny (Joe) Merz of Ironwood, Mich.; John Balde of Sheboygan; Joshua Balde of Ashland; Tyler Popp of Plymouth and Derek Bartels of Plymouth; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Brotz of Elkhart Lake and Jolene (Jim) Gordanier of Plymouth; two brothersin law, Fred Balde of Tennessee and Larry (Merrie) Huenink of Plymouth; and four sisters-in-law: Sandra Mullikin of Sheboygan Falls, Linda (Harlan) Meredith of the town of Mitchell, Lorrie (Dennis) Daugherty of Georgia and Sherrie (Dale) Laack of Kiel. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her father- and mother-in-law, Frederick and Lorraine Balde.

Prayer services were held Saturday evening, Aug. 3, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Nathan Meador, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, officiated. Burial took place in the Plymouth Union Cemetery.

A memorial fund is being established in Joyce’s name for St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
