Girl hit by car, killed in pool parking lot

A 3-year-old Plymouth girl died Saturday of injuries suffered when she was struck by a car in the parking lot at the Plymouth Outdoor Aquatic Center.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, they were called to the parking lot at City Park at 11:22 a.m. Saturday for a car/pedestrian accident.

A car parking in the lot had struck the child, Aaliyah Godfrey of Plymouth, who police say they believe came out from between several parked vehicles, where her mother was located, prior to being hit and ultimately run over by the right (passenger) side of the minivan.

Plymouth Fire Department and Plymouth Ambulance Service also responded to tend to the girl’s life threatening injuries. She was subsequently transported to St. Nicholas Hospital where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the minivan was Pam Garbisch. 39, of Sheboygan.

Though the accident remains under investigation, speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident and it is likely no citation will be issued as a result of the accident.
