Rita M. Holbrook of Sheboygan Falls passed away early Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls where she had been a patient for five days.

Rita was born July 20, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Max and Gertrude (Minton) Braun. She graduated St. Galls Grade School and from Cathedral High School in Milwaukee in 1942.

She was employed at American Appraisal Co. in Milwaukee.

On June 28, 1947, she married Earl M. Holbrook in Milwaukee and lived in Waldo, Plymouth for five years and Sheboygan Falls for 20 years. They moved to Sun City, Ariz., in 1979 and resided there for 32 years.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic Church in Sun City, Ariz., and St. Mary’s/Blessed Trinity in Sheboygan Falls, Wis.

Rita enjoyed knitting, walking, exercising and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Brewer and Packer fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Spindler of Waldo; four granddaughters: Nicole (Todd) Spielvogel of Sheboygan Falls, Samantha (Charles) Beck of Plymouth, Angela (Robert) Eichorst of Truxton, N.Y., and Alison (Tony) Leynse of Plymouth; one grandson, Darrell Spindler of Waldo; nine great-grandchildren: Ryan and Connor Spielvogel; Ashley Beck; Rebecca, Mitchell, Rachael and Michaela Eichorst and Maxwell and Claire Leynse; one sister and best friend, Maxine “Tody” Lennon of Grafton, Wis.; and two sisters in-law, Mary Galloway of Mendota, Ill., and Mickey Wals of Tacoma, Wash. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl; son-in-law, Merlin Spindler; two sisters, Genevie Kalt and Helen Jane Yakel; one brother, Vincent Braun; brother and sisters-in-law, Robert (Leona) Holbrook and Jean Wood.

Private memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.

A memorial fund is being established in Rita’s name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
