Grimm sparks Tigers to debut win

KIEL – Sophomore forward Derrick Grimm’s hat trick powered the Howards Grove Tigers to a 7-0 drubbing of Kiel in boys soccer action here Tuesday afternoon.

The nonconference match was both teams’ season opener.

Elijah Murphy kicked the second-half goal. Fischer had a team-high two assists. Grimm and Devin Gallenberger added one each.

“I was pleased with our first game. I thought our hard work during our first week [of practice] really paid off,” said Tiger head coach Todd Fischer.

“Our communication was excellent and our passing, spacing, and possession play really improved from our scrimmage this past Saturday versus New Holstein. I am optimistic about our season.”
