Joan M. O’Reilly, age 83, of Lake Street, Cascade, went to be with the angels in heaven Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013.

Joan was born June 17, 1930, in the town of Lyndon, Wis., a daughter of the late James and Louella Long Doherty. She attended Cascade grade schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1948.

She was employed at the Telephone Co. in Cascade, Lakeshire Marty Co. in Plymouth for a couple of years and at Gilson Brothers Co. in Plymouth for over 20 years retiring in 1985.

On June 25, 1949, she married Alois “Pat” O’Reilly at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cascade. The couple have resided in Cascade since their marriage.

While on earth, Joan touched many people with her caring, loving, warm and positive attitude. She made this world a better place each and every day. Joan, our ray of sunshine, will always be deeply loved, sadly missed, but never forgotten. “Love you lots” and “We are proud of you” was always her ongoing message to her family.

Joan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth and a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cascade and a former member of the Ladies Aid at St. Mary’s Church.

She was an Auxiliary member of Ambelang Ebelt-Lau American Legion Post #386 of Cascade.

Joannie was a member of the Dinosaur Club in Cascade; bowled for many years for Kretsch’s Crew in Cascade; enjoyed hobbies of gardening, crafts, ceramics, knitting, watching her grandchildren in sports, music recitals and all of their school activities.

Survivors include her husband, Alois “Pat” of Cascade; four children: Colleen O’Reilly of Sheboygan, Morreen (Don) Mersberger of Plymouth, Franceen (Gary) Wieneke of Sheboygan and Lance (Julie) O’Reilly of Muskego; five grandchildren: Colin and Chris Wieneke and Kelsey (Kyle) Burkhamer of Sheboygan and Neill and Shannon O’Reilly of Muskego; and one sister-in-law, Margaret O’Reilly of Plymouth. Joan is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert Doherty.

Prayer services were held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Father Richard Cerpich officiated. Cremation took place and inurnment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Cascade.

Visitation was held at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 4 p.m. Monday until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Joan’s name.
