DORIS LORRAINE WITTHUHN

Doris Lorraine Witthuhn, age 89, of Libby’s House East, Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Friday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2013, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Doris was born July 3, 1924 in Sheboygan, Wis., a daughter of the late Michael and Frieda Kuehl Reinert and raised by her grandparents, Carl and Ernestine Kuehl. Doris was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She attended West Side grade school, high school and vocational school in Sheboygan.

For a brief time, she was a seamstress at Lakeland Manufacturing.

On Sept. 25, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to Clarence Witthuhn at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Following their marriage, the couple resided in Sheboygan and the town of Sheboygan where they built their own home. They were charter members of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. There Doris taught VBS. Her husband preceded her in death July 18, 1995.

In recent years Doris resided in Plymouth. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Sheboygan Falls.

Survivors include three daughters: Sandra (Duane) Foelske of Waverly, Iowa; Joyce Kalchthaler of Plymouth, and Judith (Richard) Bassuener of Plymouth; six grandchildren: Eric (Kari) Foelske, Michael (LeAnn) Foelske, Christy (Nate) Snyder, Christian Kalchthaler and Jeffrey and Jodi Bassuener; eight great-grandchildren: Ben and Caden Foelske; Ellie, Jordyn and Lakin Foelske; Samantha, Andrew and Haidyn Snyder; two step great-grand- children, Rachel and Shelby Reiter; a step great-great-grandson, Beckett; one sister, Gladys Zichitella; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by a sonin law, Philipp Kalchthaler; three brothers: Wallace, Carlin and Theodor Reinert; and three sisters: Gloria Wunder, Betty Bound and Viola Colberg.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Elizabeth Jaeger, pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, officiated. Entombment was in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum, town of Sheboygan.

A memorial fund is being established in Doris’ name.
