RUTH I. MCCOMBIE

Ruth I. McCombie, age 99, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 1, 2013, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility where she had been a resident for the past year.

She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in the town of Lima, Wis., a daughter of the late Louis and Mollie Dorst Boeckmann. She attended Sheboygan Falls Grade School and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1932. She attended Sheboygan Business College.

She married Raymond Murphy, Waldemar Zwerg and Russell McCombie, all of whom preceded her in death.

She worked at Cleveland Container, Sargento Cheese Co., A & P Cheese Co., all in Plymouth, and retired in 1976 from the Kohler Co. after 14 years.

She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, and a member of Willing Workers of the church.

She was a volunteer at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital for 20 years.

Ruth enjoyed dancing, playing golf, bowling and playing cards.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet (Terry) Miller of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Tony (Laura) Miller of Plymouth and Alicia (Mark) Staker of Arlington Heights, Ill.; five great-grandchildren: Sam, Jack and Phil Miller and Charlie and Blake Staker; four stepchildren: Mary McCombie of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Michael (Paula) McCombie of South Barrington, Ill.; Patrick (Cinda) McCombie of Wilmington, Del.; and William (Peg) Mc- Combie of Denver, Colo. She is also survived by step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Murphy and two sisters, Norma Lucas and Edith Goebel.

Following Ruth’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will take place. Inurnment will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in Ruth’s name for Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth.
