Shirley Mae Schlichting, age 85, of Plymouth, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at the Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth.

She was born March 18, 1928, daughter of the late Phillip and Bertha (Timreck) Buchman.

On Dec. 12, 1947, she married Donald Schlichting at The Mission House at Lakeland College. He preceded her in death April 3, 2009.

She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Church in the town of Rhine.

During Shirley’s working career, she was not only a homemaker but also worked for the David Douglass Co. in Plymouth for several years.

She is survived by her three children: Deborah Gutowski, Roxanne (Steve) Gaedke and Pamela (Scott) Miller; her grandchildren: Tony (Deena) Gutowski, Craig Gaedke, Travis (Sarah) Gaedke, and Andrea and Elizabeth Miller; great-grandchildren: Adrianna and Alyssia Gutowski, Taylor and Mya Gaedke, Skylar and Zach Anderson, and Takarah and Zarek Gaedke; and a sister, Hazel Kattre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings: Harvey (Laura) Buchman, Ellsworth (Veronica) Buchman, Esther (Jo) Horn, Dorothy (Norbert) Schneider, Irma (Fred) Rabe, Wally (Byrdie) Buchman and Elmer (Yvonne) Buchman.

Private family services are being held at St. Peter Evangelical Church in the town of Rhine.
