Howards improved to 4-1 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (7-4 overall) and stretched its CLC winning streak to four. The Flying Dutchmen, who shared the CLC title with the Tigers last season, slipped to 3-1 in the league (8-3 overall).

Oostburg, a Division 3 state qualifier in 2012, Howards and Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran figure to challenge for the conference championship. The Tigers are in second place in the CLC, one-half game behind front-running Christian/Lutheran (4-0).

“Our boys played with an intensity that I haven’t seen up to today [Monday]. They came out with energy and excitement,” said Tiger head coach Todd Fischer. “I am proud of their efforts.”

Jordan Fischer, a senior midfielder, led the Tigers’ offense with two goals, both in the first half. Fischer’s first goal came seven minutes into the match when he scored off a deflection caused by a shot from teammate Tanner Voss.

Fischer kicked his second goal at the 33-minute mark which gave the Tigers a 2-0 halftime lead. This goal also came when a shot (name of Tiger shooter unknown) was deflected to Fischer who followed it up with a score.

Junior Dakota Rabe, a midfielder-forward, scored the Tigers’ third goal on a header after teammate Andrew Gardner’s shot deflected to Rabe.

“Our passing was a bit inconsistent but we still found a way to keep up the tempo and keep Oostburg on their toes,” said the coach.

The Dutchmen led 9-6 in shots on goal. Tiger goalkeeper C.J. Berg was credited with nine saves.
