Walk to End Alzheimer's Sept. 28 in Kohler

Join hundreds of community members for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sept. 28 at Sports Core in Kohler. Over 550 people from Sheboygan County are expected to participate in this year’s event. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the walk starting promptly at 10:00 a.m. State Senator, Joe Leibham is the Honorary Chairperson. The Opening Ceremony will include a Promise Garden dedication. Walk festivities open at 8:30 a.m. with music by Mr. Sound FX, Oostburg Dance Team, Kohler Drum Line, a family fun area, Silent Auction items including Bucks and Packer tickets and a 50-50 raffle. Anytime Fitness will lead the Warm Ups. Food and refreshments will be offered compliments of Old Wisconsin, Watson Vending & Food Service, McDonald’s, Sargento and others.

In 2012, over $66,000 was raised by the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Sheboygan County to help individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their families access support and services, including the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline, support groups, research, education and training.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Sheboygan County is being chaired by Connie Thimmig, Director of Community Relations at Azura Memory Care, Wendy Limberg, Geriatric Care Manager at Embrace Care Management and Don Seymour, community volunteer. “As Chairs, each of us has been impacted by the disease differently but we share some all too familiar ground. The Walk is an opportunity for us to make a difference and help find a cure to End Alzheimer’s. It is our way of fighting back. We urge you to join us Sheboygan County,” stated Thimmig. “We can’t win without your support.” This event is also supported by a committee of community leaders along with staff from the Alzheimer’s Association.

Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This 2.4 mile Walk begins at the Sports Core in Kohler.
