ELMER OTTO WENTZ

Elmer Otto Wentz, 89, a resident of Libby’s House West in Plymouth, died there Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013.

Elmer was born June 29, 1924 in Kohler, Wis., to Harold and Hilda (Siegmund) Wentz. He attended various Sheboygan Falls schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School, Class of 1942.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the European Theater from 1944 to 1945. Elmer had the privilege of participating in the Honor Flight in 2010.

On May 8, 1948, Elmer Wentz and Sophia De Vriend were united in marriage in Kohler. She preceded him in death Feb. 24, 2011. The couple resided in Sheboygan Falls for many years before moving to Sheboygan in the mid- 80s.

Elmer was a longtime employee at the Kohler Co. working in the Warranty Claims Department. He was employed at Luedtke’s Meat Market for many years as well.

Elmer attended Hope Strict Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling and flower gardening.

Survivors include his children, Alan (Susan) Wentz of Northridge, Calif.; Wayne (Kaye) Wentz of Papillon, Neb.; Gary (Christine) Wentz of Plymouth and Debra (Michelle) Wentz of Elkhart Lake; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrew, Nicholas (Sandra) Wentz, Brad (Karen) Steinhardt, Craig (Susan) Steinhardt, Samantha (Matt) LaPean and Jessica (Daniel) Quasius; a brother, Walter (Frances) Wentz; a sister, Carol (James) Berge; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Elmer was preceded in death by his sister, Irene.

Funeral services were held Monday morning, Sept. 23, at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Pastor Gary TenBroeke officiated. Entombment with full military honors took place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler.

A memorial fund has been established in his name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
