The host Panthers placed three runners in the top-five overall. PHS recorded a cumulative time of 1 hour, 22 minutes, 50.36 seconds for its first five competitors. Novotny, a junior, was clocked in 15:49.90 on the 2.5-mile course.

Also finishing in the top five for the Panthers were juniors Brooke Koehn and Abby Payne who were third and fifth, respectively.

Freshman Ashley Reinemann of Howards Grove was a very close second with a time of 15:51.51. The Tigers placed fourth in the seven-team field with 1:28:26.57. Pewaukee took second at 1:23:48.28.

The Panthers finished third at 1:34:58.41. The Tigers placed fifth in the seven-team meet with 1:43:15.48.

Plymouth’s top finisher was senior Tom Jankowski who captured eighth in 18:02.31 over 3.1 miles. The Tigers were led by junior Eric Dvorachek who placed fifth in 17:34.96. The winner was senior Trevor Damkot of Sheboygan North with a 16:36.53 effort.

“We had a nice meet at home. Our girls ran real well, with very strong races from all our runners,” said Panther head coach Jay Grosshuesch.

“Julia, Brooke and Abby and Olivia [Jankowski] ran their best races of the season. Karly [Knaus] added a strong race as did our 6-8 runners. It was a great way to win a meet, as all the girls contributed to our low team time.

Francis finished 14th overall. — Review photo by Greg Ceilley “It is nice to see our hard work paying off with quality races [for the girls and boys].

“Our boys ran well. Tom ran a strong race to lead us and then we had a nice pack or runners for our 2-4 kids as Ian [McConnaha], Chandler [Haun] and Paul [Francis] finished within 10 seconds of each other,” said Grosshuesch.

“As has been the trademark of this year’s team [boys and girls], Howards Grove athletes don’t fear competition, they thrive on it,” said Tiger head coach Gary Kalk.

“Competition is usually abundant when facing much larger Division 1 schools.”

The Panther Relays included several D-1 schools.

“Ashley Reinemann really cranked things up a notch in her last mile, putting her in contention for the win during the girls top race of the day. It took a great sprint finish by Plymouth [Novotny] in order to hold off a very determined Ashley.

“I saw great team running by Kara Bell and Melissa Oxtoby. They pushed each other around the course today. Both ladies finished with season-best times in the process,” Kalk said.

The boys and girls meets included separate races for the Nos. 7-8 runners, 5-6, 3-4 and 1-2 from each school.
