ROLAND CARL “ROLLIE” JURK

Roland Carl “Rollie” Jurk, 83, of Parnell, went home Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, with his wife at his side.

He was the son of the late Henry and Mary Jurk. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated in 1948 from Central High School.

On April 21, 1951, he married Marietta “Mickey” Rawling in Sheboygan.

After serving his country in the Marines during the Korean War, Rollie and Mickey returned to Sheboygan where he worked for VPI for 41 years. He worked many years as a manager before retiring in 1995. In 1990, Rollie and Mickey moved to Parnell. Mickey preceded Rollie in death June 28, 2000.

On Oct. 19, 2001, Rollie married JoAnne Finley of Plymouth.

Rollie loved his home in Parnell, loved working on his land and using the wood for his beautiful turnings. He was also a proud member of the American Legion and cherished the times he spent with his family.

Rollie is survived by his wife, JoAnne; three children: Scott (Cindi) Jurk, Beth (Jeff) LaCosse and Christine Coolidge; by four grandchildren: Jared (Danielle), Heather (Dan), Josh and Lucas; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four stepsons: Leo (Diana), Timothy (Becci), Michael (Wendy) and Robert (Chrissy); and six step grandchildren. Rollie is further survived by one sister, Doris Huebner; sisters-in-law: Barbara Jurk, Betty Ferguson, Jacqueline Karpinsky and Patrica Cooper; and brothers-in-law: Michael (Barbara Rawling), Frank, Michael and Thomas Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.

Rollie is also preceded in death by his brother, Harold; two infant brothers and a granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Rollie’s life at Redeemer Church in Plymouth at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

Family and friends may call at the church from 4:30 p.m. until time of the service.

The Ambelang-Ebelt-Lau American Legion Post #386 of Cascade will conduct military rites at the church following the services Thursday evening.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Rollie’s name to Redeemer Lutheran Church Library Fund or to Habitat for Humanity.
