Tiger girls win Kewaskum Invite

KEWA S - KUM – Freshman Ashley Reinemann captured first place to propel the Howards Grove Tigers to the girls championship in Thursday afternoon’ s Kewaskum Invitational cross country meet.

Reinemann ran the 2.5-mile course in 16 minutes, 40 seconds. The Tigers tallied 31 points, followed by Waupun with 42. Howards had an impressive four runners in the top-seven overall.

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters finished fourth in the five-team field with 111. Elkhart was paced by Shannon Resser who took 17th in 19:36.

The Tigers placed fourth in the seven-team boys competition with 113 points. They were led by Eric Dvorachek who earned fourth in 19:15 over 3.1 miles. The champion was Waupun’s Matt Kuik in 18:16.

The Resorters finished sixth with 154, led by Jordan Kissinger who placed 20th in 20:46. West Bend East won the meet with 47 points, edging Waupun on a tiebreaker (East’s sixth runner placed higher than Waupun’s). The Warriors also scored 47.

“Race times were a bit slower today, likely a product of the course, yet the results were nothing to hang our heads,” said Tiger head coach Gary Kalk.
