Donald L. Fisher, age 83, of Adell, Wis., passed away early Monday afternoon, Sept. 23, 2013, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in Plymouth where he had been a resident the last 25 months.

He was born Oct. 2, 1929, in the town of Oakfield (Fond du Lac County), a son of the late Harold and Vivian (Martin) Fisher. He graduated from Oakfield High School in 1947.

On July 8, 1950, he married Carita Ogle at St. James Catholic Church in Oakfield.

He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1951-53 serving in the Korean War.

The couple resided in Oakfield after their marriage, Chilton for 10 years, lived in Plymouth until 1971, and then in Waldo until 2002 when they moved to Batavia.

He was employed at Commonwealth/ G.T.E./Verizon for 37 years retiring in 1987.

He was a former member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and presently a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Random Lake.

He was a member of the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 in Plymouth and was a former member of the Wednesday Nite Golf League at Crystal Lake Golf Course. He was also a member of the Greenbush and Waldo snowmobile clubs.

He enjoyed bowling with George, golfing, delivering flowers with Dick Bemis, woodworking and camping and was an expert hickory nut cracker.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Carita of Adell; eight children: Gary (Loretta) Fisher of Plymouth, Gene (Becky) Fisher of Plymouth, Jon Sr. (Gayle) Fisher of Plymouth, Gayle (Randy) Flunker of Cascade, Janet (Mike) Luedtke of Sheboygan Falls, Jodi Kimme of Sheboygan, Greg (Sandy) Fisher of Waldo and Jera (Peter Sr.) Thielmann of Chilton; 18 grandchildren: Micah (Kelly) Fisher, Erika (Joe) Cafferty, Cheri (Tom) Meyer, Christal (Mike) Mulder, Donald (Christie) Fisher, Jon Jr. (Lori) Fisher, Justin (Leah) Fisher, Trista Fisher, Angela Flunker, Bill (Tammy) Flunker, Stacy (Andy) Hron, Katie, Jonathon and Heather Kimme, Sarah and Ben Fisher and Peter Jr. (PJ) Thielmann (fiancée, Stephanie) and Joe (Nikki) Thielmann; proud grandpa of 15 greatgrandchildren: Kaitlyn, Colin, Claire, Julia, Isabelle, Emmitt, Kimberly, Elam, Hayden, Samantha, Brooklyn, Skyler, Shay, Lindsey and Layla; two brothers, Harlyn (Arlene) Fisher of Fond du Lac and Leo (Lois) Fisher of Oakfield; two sisters, Lorna (Gene) Boelk of Waupun and Dorothy (Larry) Binning of Middleton, Wis.; three sistersin law: Irma Ogle Gremner of Kewaskum, Hilda Ogle of Oakfield and Gloria Ogle of Neshkoro, Wis.; and also survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Harriet Wade Fisher; mother- and father-in-law, John and Lydia Ogle; three brothers-in-law, Donald Ogle, Roger Ogle and Gerald Ogle; two sistersin law, Dolores (Carroll) Peters and Mary Gilles and one son-in-law, Paul Neerhof.

Following Don’s wishes, his body has been donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Friends and family were welcomed to celebrate Don’s life and honor his 84th birthday, which took place Sunday afternoon, Sept. 29, at the old Batavia Elementary School located at W7140 School Drive, Adell (located in the village of Batavia).
