PHS girls bowling team seeks players

The Plymouth High School girls bowling team is in need of more players for the 2013-14 season.

The PHS girls bowling program has an outstanding tradition, having won state titles in 2009, 2011 and 2013, and earning second in 2010.

Practices are held on Mondays and Thursdays after school at Anchor Lanes in Elkhart Lake. Transportation can be coordinated if needed.

“With proper coaching and practice, any player can succeed at bowling,” said PHS coach Bob Liebe.

Liebe will help all bowlers obtain the proper equipment. He said bowling is a varsity letter sport with the possibility of winning college scholarship money.

If anyone is interested in joining the girls team or needs more information, contact Liebe at 893-0292 or

Pewaukee wins LOL grand title

PEWAUKEE – The Pewaukee Muskies won the Land O’ Lakes Baseball League grand championship recently with a 7-0 win over the Burlington Barons in the title game.

The championship is the Western Division’s ninth in the past 11 years. Winning pitcher Adam Dominick fanned 16 batters against the Southwest Division opponent which had a depleted lineup as the result of college players returning to school.

Pewaukee eliminated Northern Division champion Cedarburg with an 8-4 win over the Mercs which advanced the Muskies to the championship game. Winning hurler Brock Guetzke had 10 strikeouts and a team-high three hits.

Ross Zahour and Justin Stiever led the Mercs in hits with two each.
