Frederick “Fritz” Hasler, 88, of W6168 County MM, Elkhart Lake, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 2013, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

He was born April 15, 1925 in Rio, Wis., son of the late Fred and Inez (Schneider) Hasler. Fritz was a 1943 graduate of Elkhart Lake High School.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He was a self-employed milk hauler for many years. He later worked at Sohn Mfg. in Elkhart Lake until his retirement.

Fritz was a member of St. Paul’s Christian Church, town of Russell.

He was an active member of the Elkhart Lake Lions Club, where he received the highest honor as a Lion, the Melvin Jones Award. He also held the office of treasurer for the Lions Club for 25 years and pulled the Lions float in many local parades. He was especially proud of his many years of perfect attendance. Fritz was a member of the Glenbeulah American Legion Post #484 and was a 21-gallon blood donor for the Elkhart Lake Red Cross.

Fritz enjoyed the time he spent with his many friends. He was especially grateful these past years to all who helped him with his daily activities. He loved to entertain and always had a story or joke to share with those he knew.

Survivors include his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Hasler and Shirley (Harry) Hartwick; nieces and nephew, Debbie Keeran, Sandy Buettner, Barb Martin, Rhonda Hasler, Carla Erickson, Kathy LaVora, Cindy Fahney, Pat Haen and Mark Hasler; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Dorothy; and two brothers, Marvin and Ernie.

Funeral services for Fritz were held Saturday noon, Oct. 12, at St. Paul’s Christian Church, W7101 Sexton Road, Elkhart Lake, with the Rev. Keith Hunholz officiating.

Burial took place in the church cemetery.

Full military rites were conducted by the Glenbeulah American Legion Post #484.

A memorial has been established in his name for St. Paul’s Christian Church and the Elkhart Lake Lions Club.
