MARY L. MEIER

Mary L. Meier, 88, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Pine Haven Christian Home, with her daughters at her side.

Mary was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Plymouth, daughter of Charles and Irene (Wetzel) DeLong. She was a 1942 graduate of Plymouth High School.

On Nov. 8, 1948, she married Henry Meier in Rice Lake. Henry passed away March 1, 1986.

Mary was a beautician and was later employed as a cook at Fountain Park Motor Inn for 20 years until her retirement in 1986.

Mary was a member of the Falls Women’s Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed spending time with her three daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary loved going for rides and dining out. She was an avid Packer and Brewers fan. Mary also enjoyed cooking, sewing club with high school friends, bowling, Scrabble, and crossword puzzles. Mary will be remembered for her love of dogs, including her array of stuffed animals, and her contagious laughter.

Mary is survived by her three daughters, Ann Marie (Bill Kolb) Linn of Sheboygan Falls, Jeanne (Jerry) Davies of Oostburg and Janet Nyenhuis of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Ron (Wendy) Den Boer, Lisa (Gary) Collins, Jackie (Joel) Daane, Joel (JoAnn) Davies, Jill (Bill) Haag, Jessica (Nathan) Weavers and Jeff (Marcy) Davies; and 20 great-grandchildren, Justin (Hannah), Tyler, Tanya (Dave), Kari (Jesse), Brad, Dustin, Adam, Jonny, Garret, Natalie, Gavin, Ashlea, Aiden, Karlee, Zachary, Henry, Ava, Noah, Paityn and Leeah. Mary is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; one brother, Robert Awe; two sons-in-law, Duane Linn and Steve Nyenhuis; and one sisterin law, Erika Awe.

Funeral services to celebrate Mary’s life were held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. John Tinsley officiating. An American Legion service took place at 6:45 p.m. Entombment will take place in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum in the town of Sheboygan at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services at 6:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary’s name for Pine Haven Christian Home and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
