The No. 2-seeded Tigers upped their record to 37-8 and earned another shot at No. 1-seeded Oostburg with a sectional matchup Thursday at New Holstein at 7 p.m. Oostburg, the two-time defending D-3 state champion, defeated Howards three times during the regular season.

“I was extremely proud of the focus on our game plan that the team showed tonight,” said Tiger head coach Brett Damrow.

“We really stressed limiting our errors and staying disciplined at the net with our block and taking away their ability to go on runs with their aggressive serving. The entire team had a hand in our victory.”

Ali Schueler led Howards in kills with 10 and digs, 23. Autumn Risch had a team-high 23 assists to go with 14 digs. Valerie Free led in ace serves with three.

Courtney Milz contributed six kills for the Tigers, followed by Risch and Becca Young with five each. Brittany Schaller had 12 digs.

“We had numerous digs tonight from many different players that saved us points that either continued our rally or stopped theirs,” Damrow noted.

“We had four players that served 100 percent which really kept them on their heels. I really believe the disciplined blocking at the net was a huge key to our success.”

New Holstein came into the match as the No. 3 seed.
