DERRICK GRIMM DERRICK GRIMM Sophomore forward Derrick Grimm of Howards Grove was voted to the All-Central Lakeshore Conference boys soccer first team for the second straight season by the CLC coaches.

Grimm is the only first-team repeater and the only underclassmen on the top unit. Also named to the first unit for the Tigers is senior midfielder Jordan Fischer. Fischer and Grimm were unaniby mous picks. Fischer was on the second unit last year.

The Tigers have a pair of second-team players in senior midfielders Andrew Gardner and Zach Berglund. Gardner moved up from honorable mention as a junior.

Howards’ honorable-mention choices are senior defender/forward Tanner Voss, junior midfielder Dakota Rabe and senior goalkeeper CJ Berg.

Grimm led the Tigers in goals with 16, assists, five and points with 37 (two points per goal and one per assist) in league play. He was the CLC’s top goal scorer.

JORDAN FISCHER JORDAN FISCHER “Derrick was a strong leader and led the team and conference in goals. Other teams found him to be a threat as they double- and tripled-covered him,” said Tiger head coach Todd Fischer (Jordan’s father).

Fischer scored nine goals, had three assists and tallied 21 points. He was second on the Tiger squad in all three statistical areas.

“Jordan was a strong leader and the team fed off of his play,” said coach Fischer.

“Andrew was a strong leader, played a number of roles over the season and did so giving it 100 percent. He never gave up,” said the coach.

“Zach was a quiet leader and also played a number of positions. He is athletic and his touches were also pretty solid.”

Gardner and Berglund had one assist apiece in league play.

Berg surrendered only 14 goals and made 52 saves in 12 league matches. His save percentage was .788 in CLC action.

“CJ was always looking for ways to improve his performance. He stepped up into the position as a junior, never having played [goalie before]. He did a great job for the team,” said the coach.

Rabe tied for second on his team in assists with three and had two goals in CLC action. Voss contributed two goals and one assist.

“Tanner was a vocal leader who played both offensive and defensive positions. He was a very passionate player,” the coach pointed out.

“Dakota was a vocal leader, and played a number of positions and did so for the good of the team. He always gives 100 percent and has a never-give-up attitude.”

The other unanimous firstteam players include senior midfielder Brady Otte of Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran, senior forward Joe Pellowski and junior defender Ben Madigan of Kohler and senior midfielder Jake Swihart, Oostburg.
