FRANKLIN W. “FRANK” KRAUS

Franklin W. “Frank” Kraus, age 72, of Plymouth, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at the Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center.

He was born in Fond du Lac on Sept. 21, 1941, son of the late Charles E. and Gudelia (Woelfel) Kraus. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Johnsburg until the fifth grade and completed grade school at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Plymouth. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1959.

On Sept. 29, 1969, he married Rogene M. Wester at St. Mary Catholic Church in Cascade.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he served as president of the School Board, he worked on the buildings and grounds committee, a member of the Usher Society, and helped manage the concession stand at Road America.

Frank worked for Meyer Motors in Plymouth as the service manager, retiring in 2006, after 47 years of service.

In the 1960s, Frank drove stock cars with the Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Association, he was active in the Plymouth Snow Rangers; he played softball in Plymouth, bowled in local leagues, was a member of the Plymouth Jaycees, coached Plymouth Junior Football, was a member of the Plymouth Auxiliary Police and Walleyes for Tomorrow. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his “granddog” Barkley, fishing, snowmobiling, watching auto racing, watching the summer sunsets, and retirement at the family cottage on Lake Winnebago.

He is survived by his wife, Rogene; two children, Matthew Kraus of Plymouth and Kristin Kraus of Denver, Colo., his aunt and uncle, Henry and Odelia Schneider of Hilbert, Mildred Burckle of Fond du Lac, Doris Kraus of Sheboygan; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Susan Wester of Plymouth; and two nephews, Gregory Wester of Plymouth and Tony (Jen) Wester of Greenleaf. He is further survived by many cousins, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Anthony J. and Regina (Van Treck) Wester; step-mother-in-law, Marie Wester; and many aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth with the Rev. Daniel Volkert officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday evening, Nov. 17, from 3-7 p.m. at the Schneider Funeral Home (123 South St.) in Plymouth and again at the church Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
