On Sept. 13, 1952, she married Kenneth W. Korb at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Lucille attended Mapledale Elementary School, town of Sheboygan, and graduated from Central High School in 1950.

She was a graduate of Sheboygan County Teachers College in 1972, completing her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Lakeland College graduating in 1974 magna cum laude. Lucille increased her teaching skills by completing numerous graduate courses and seminars.

Lucille substituted for several years in various elementary schools in Sheboygan County. She taught full-time at Elkhart Lake Elementary School for one year and then for 17 years at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School. She retired in 1995 after teaching for 21 years.

Lucille enjoyed traveling in the U.S., Canada and Europe. She especially appreciated visits of western and southwestern states and also Alaska and Hawaii. Foreign destinations included three Canadian tours, and five European tours to visit with Ken’s brother Stanley and family in England. Among her most enjoyable experiences were renting cars and traveling throughout much of Europe, visiting historical sites and the many ranges of the European Alps. Driving back roads, she loved visiting and staying overnight in small villages, joining residents in their favorite restaurants, inns and shops. Especially enjoyed, were the many sites in England, Scotland and Wales and of course London, toured with Stanley Korb and his family.

Lucy also enjoyed oil-painting during her retirement, benefiting much from her eight years of training with local artist Kitty Klich. Numerous oil paintings are displayed on the walls of family members’ homes.

Also among her favorite retirement activities were, the weekly meetings of the Elkhart Lake Bridge Club as well as sessions of the Community’s Study Club, and monthly luncheon meetings of the Sheboygan Falls Retired Elementary Teachers.

Most of all, however, Lucy enjoyed and loved her family. She enjoyed watching four children and their 11 grandchildren grow and mature. Most recently, four great-grandchildren have joined the family. She will always be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother and grandparent. Among her greatest joys were the annual gatherings on Christmas Eve and Day when all or most of the family would meet and celebrate the Lord’s birth and Christmas season.

Lucille was very active in her church, Trinity Lutheran Church of Howards Grove. She taught Sunday school classes for many years and participated in the congregation’s summer Bible classes for children. She also appreciated the time spent with the Trinity Quilters that each year completes numerous quilts to donate to deserving groups. The quilters also provided an opportunity for Christian fellowship.
