Moegenburg on All-EWC first team

Plymouth’s Reil earns second-team honors

Moegenburg, a unanimous selection by the league coaches, was on the second team last year. The Panthers’ other All-EWC players are senior middle blocker Nikki Reil on the second unit, and junior setter Mary Albert and senior libero (back-row specialist) Alyssa Uribe.

Moegenburg ranked No. 2 in the EWC in digs with a 4.5 average per set (game) and ranked No. 4 in kills with a 3.2 average. For the overall season, she led the Panthers in kills with 358 and serve reception, 90.4 percent, and contributed 25 solo blocks, 512 digs, 97.1-percent serving accuracy and 15 ace serves.

Reil was fourth in the league in hitting percentage at .305. She tied for the PHS lead in solo blocks with 47 and had 275 kills, 35 ace serves, 173 digs and 92.3-percent serving overall.

Albert ranked No. 2 in the EWC in assists with a 7.0 average per set. For the overall season, she paced PHS in ace serves with 65, assists, 793 and serving at 98.4 percent. Albert also contributed 67 kills, six solo blocks and 260 digs.

Uribe was No. 1 in the league in digs with a 6.3 average per game. Overall, she led the Panthers in digs with 711 and was 86.4 percent in serve reception.

The other unanimous firstteam choice is junior outside hitter Blake Buchholz of Waupun. There are no first-team repeaters this year.

Waupun, which won the EWC title with a 14-0 match record, has a league-high two first-team picks. PHS was the EWC runner-up with an 11-3 mark.

FINAL EWC STATISTICS

Buchholz led the EWC in kills with a 5.1 average per set. She was also second in hitting percentage with .346. Sophomore Kyra Verheyen was first in hitting accuracy with .384 and assists with an 8.8 average per game.

Senior Maria Mueller of Sheboygan Falls was No. 1 in ace serves with a .8 average per set.

Junior Claiborn Bronkhorst of Waupun and sophomore Cassandra Schweitzer of Kiel shared the lead in solo blocks at .9 per set.

Senior Mackenzie Haese and junior Kathryn Aukerman of PHS ranked third and fourth, respectively, in digs. Haese averaged 4.4 per set and Aukerman tied for fourth with Kewaskum senior Steph Henk at 3.9 per game.
