The contest was the Central Lakeshore Conference boys basketball opener for the Resorters. Elkhart slipped to 1-2 overall and Kohler improved to 1-1 in the CLC (1-1 overall).

Antonio Bett’s follow-up basket with only 2.3 seconds left in regulation tied the game for Elkhart at 58-58 and forced overtime. Kohler dominated the overtime – outscoring the Resorters 14-1, led by Mueller’s six points.

The Resorters rallied from a 21-11 deficit in the second quarter to forge a 29-29 tie at halftime. Elkhart had a seven-point lead in the fourth period before Kohler rallied back to take a 58-56 lead with 11 seconds left.

“I’m so proud of these kids. We were dead in the water in the second quarter but we didn’t fold and went to half tied,” said Resorter head coach Jim Brown.

“I am disappointed we lost but it was a great high school game and these kids gave me every ounce of energy they had.”

Bett, a senior forward, scored a game-high 27 points. He also pulled down a team-high 15 rebounds. AJ Lallensack contributed eight boards. John Kuhn led in assists with six.
