EL-G’s Bonebrake wins invite crown

LITTLE CHUTE – Junior Brock Bonebrake was crowned the 138-pound champion to lead the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters to a sixth-place finish in Saturday’s Little Chute Wrestling Invitational.

Bonebrake scored a 19-5 major decision in the title match against Jeremy Jansen of Appleton West. Bonebrake recorded first-period pins in the first round and semifinals to advance to the championship match.

The Resorters scored 99 point in the 12-team tournament which kicked off their season. Wrightstown won five weight classes en route to winning the tourney with 225 points.

Elkhart’s other place-winners included: Franky Perko, second at 106 pounds; Trent Rebedew, third, 120; Trevor Rebedew, fifth, 145; Jared Shaw, fifth, 132; and Nick Miller, fifth at 195. Trent Rebedew chalked up three pins in posting a 3-1 mark.

“I am very happy with the way everyone wrestled,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward.

“Bonebrake looked really good at 138. He had a first-period pin against a very good Wrightstown wrestler [Josh Verbeten] in the semis.

“Perko looked great as well. He looked really fast and strong. Trent came up a little short [10-6] in the semis but bounced back with a pin in his match for third,” said Ward.
