Chalking up 5-0 records for the Resorters were freshman Franky Perko at 106 pounds; sophomore Trent Rebedew, 120; junior Brock Bonebrake, 138; and junior Nick Miller, 195. Junior Trevor Rebedew went 3-2 at 145, with all of the wins via pins.

The Resorters placed fourth in the six-team tourney with a 1-4 record. Elkhart’s win came against Manawa, 40-36. Menomonee Indian won the championship with a 5-0 mark.

“Our guys wrestled very well. They [Elkhart’s unbeaten wrestlers] had a great day. They looked sharp,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward.

“Trent Rebedew beat a state qualifier [Markesan’s Carter Hunter, 6-3] from last year who he had lost to at this tournament last year.

“We still have a lot to cover and fix before we get into the meat of our season after the new year,” said Ward.
