Forensics team participates in competition

The Riverview Middle School forensics team participated in a public speaking competition Nov. 18 in Kohler with students from seven other area middle schools.

Andrew Van Norwick and Justin Schmitz both competed in Solo & Duet Acting, and each received 24 out of 25 points and an A grade.

Receiving B grades were Paige Morgan in Poetry; and Elizabeth Benicke, Cheyenne Culver, and Courtney Perl in Reader’s Theater.

Team members Quinn Zwick and Maitland Robinson were unable to make the meet.

This was the first competition for all of the students except Justin and Elizabeth, said team coach and eighth-grade language arts teacher Bri Hartman.

“They worked very hard on preparing their performance pieces, memorizing, mastering expression and mannerisms, and speaking in front of an audience,” Hartman said. “Their performances were all very impressive!”
