Board approves staff handbooks

HOWARDS GROVE—The Howards Grove School Board approved the support and Professional Staff Handbooks at their meeting Monday.

Superintendent Chris Peterson reviewed the changes and additions for board members. The handbooks will be sent out electronically to all employees later this week.

The board authorized WASB Delegate Kim Plass to vote on resolutions at the WASB Convention in January.

A special board meeting was set for Monday, Jan. 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the district conference room to consider the elementary school principal position.

A new electronics and electricity textbook was presented to be reviewed by the board members by staff member Wayne Hoffmann. Hoffmann explained how the textbook will help all students.

The textbook will be available for review until next month’s meeting, when approval will be voted on.

Northview Principal Diane Wieland noted that Teacher-Parent Conferences were well attended.

Wieland said that the PTO has had several restaurant fundraisers that have been very successful. She has submitted for grant to help the PTO.

Middle School Principal Andy Hanson reported that several staff members attended in-service meetings for reading instruction. He also commended the student council for their hard work.

High School Principal Scott Fritz commended the music department. He stated that the staff has worked hard with students needing extra help studying.

Peterson reported on Educator Effectiveness.

There will be opening on the School Board in the April 1 election. Deadline to file papers is Jan. 7 at the District Office.

Board member thanked the Howards Grove FFA, Howards Grove Boosters, Howards Grove Lion’s Club, PTO and Andrew and Lael Bagnall for donations to the school district.
