The Crusaders upped their Central Lakeshore Conference record to 1-1 (2-4 overall). Elkhart dropped to 1-3 in the CLC (2-3 overall).

Senior center Erin Quam poured in 23 points to spark the Crusaders. Quam also had a teamhigh 13 rebounds, including several on offense. Lutheran dominated the boards as they held a 40-23 rebounding edge, including a 17-5 advantage on offense.

Elkhart led 26-23 at halftime before Lutheran rallied to take the lead for good, 35-28, going into the fourth quarter. The Resorters were only 1-for-11 from the field in the third period.

“Lutheran had way too many second-chance points. It’s hard to make that up when you give a team that many chances to score,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

“Erin Quam had a great game. We could not keep her off the glass.

“We have too much talent to be struggling like this. I must do a better job preparing my team to do battle,” added Kulow.

Emma Feldmann and Rachael Flora paced Elkhart in scoring with nine points each. Feldmann also had a team-high three assists, three blocked shots and five boards. Emily Holzmann also grabbed five rebounds.

The Resorters had an impressive 18 steals, led by Ashley Pfeifer with five and Sonia Schubert with four.
