The Raiders opened a 36-20 lead with 4:43 left in the third quarter before the Resorters stormed back behind Sonia Schuber and Emily Holzmann, who had 11 points combined in a 19-5 run that pulled EL-G to within two of Kiel at 41-39 with 6:28 left in the game.

A three-point field goal by Kiel’s Gretta Binversie to end the third quarter helped take some of the steam out of Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah’s rally. Binversie, Maddie Dahmer, Mia Voland and Allison Reseburg all had two points as Kiel answered back with the next eight points to reassume control of the game.

“Offensively, this was one of our best games shooting, but one of our worst passing,” said Kiel head coach Jeremy Bushman.

“You never count out a Donny Kulow team and we found that out tonight. It was a good win heading into our big game this week at Plymouth.”

Kiel center Cassie Schweitzer led an early Raider charge and led all scorers with 21 points.

“We figured out early that we could not handle Kiel man-to-man and switched to a zone,” said Resorter veteran head coach Donny Kulow. “We love playing a team like Kiel because it prepares us for the rest of our conference schedule.”

With the win, Kiel is now 4-4 overall. Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, 2-4 overall, was led by Schubert’s 16 points.
