Graening on advisory committee

LYNN GRAENING LYNN GRAENING Lynn Graening, literacy coach at Riverview Middle School, has been named to a two-year term on the state Read On Wisconsin Advisory Committee.

The program promotes highquality books for Wisconsin children and teenagers, each month featuring five Read On Wisconsin titles for children and teens. The initiative was started by former Wisconsin First Lady Jessica Doyle in 2004, and is now overseen by the Cooperative Children’s Book Center, a library of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The books highlighted each year are selected by the Read On Wisconsin Advisory Committee comprised of Wisconsin librarians, teachers and others who work to connect children and teens with books and reading. Graening will be on the team selecting books for middle-school level readers.

Earlier this year, Graening served on a statewide workgroup convened by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to evaluate the complexity of more than 180 middle and high school literary texts.
