PHS frosh girls win, 47-33

PLYMOUTH – A strong second half keyed the Plymouth Panthers’ 47-33 freshman girls basketball nonconference win over visiting Cedar Grove-Belgium Thursday night.

“We went into the half only up two points. We made some changes coming into the third quarter that threw them off and we executed remarkably,” said PHS coach Britta Dellger.

Emma Grapentine led the Panthers in scoring with 10 points. Jessica Schumacher grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Middle-school wrestling to start

Plymouth-area boys and girls in grades five through eight are invited to participate in extracurricular wrestling.

The team is coached by Riverview Middle School teacher John Hoopman. Informational meetings will be held at 7:30 a.m. (during homeroom) and at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 in the Riverview Middle School gym.

Practices will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on school days beginning Monday, Jan. 27 in the Plymouth High School wrestling room. Bus transportation to PHS is provided.

The season consists of five conference meets mostly on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 18 and ending March 11, and a conference tournament on Thursday, March 13.

Middle-school extracurriculars, which are open to all area students whether they attend public or parochial school or are homeschooled, are coordinated by Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation. The cost of each activity is $20.
