Evelyn J. Wittkopp, age 98, formerly of the town of Plymouth, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening, Jan. 7, 2014, at Plymouth Care Center where she had been a resident for the last five years.

Evelyn was born Dec. 27, 1915, in Sheboygan, Wis., a daughter of the late Benjamin and Minnie (Preder) Buhler. She attended Pleasant View School in the town of Sherman.

On June 29, 1940, she married Elroy L. Wittkopp at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. The couple resided and farmed on the Family Homestead all of their married life. Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 17, 2000.

Evelyn was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include three daughters: Marilyn (Richard) Larson of the town of Plymouth, grandchildren: Lynn (Donald) Behr of Plymouth and Annette Larson of Plymouth; Shirley (Dennis) Steiner of the town of Plymouth, grandchildren: Amy Nurek of Plymouth and Brian (Nicole) Steiner of Plymouth; and Judy (William) Gasner of West Bend, grandchildren: Dean (fiancée, Jill Rettler) of Iron Ridge, Wis., and Jeff (Aimee) Schmidt of West Bend; seven great-grandchildren: Brittany Schmidt of Iron Ridge, Wis., Adrienne Behr of Glenbeulah, Haley Behr of Sheboygan Falls, Allison and Sydney Steiner of Plymouth and Austin and Delilah Rose Behr of Glenbeulah; one brother, Wilbert (Marguerite) Buhler of Cedar Grove; and also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Steven Steiner and Ricky Larson; one sister, Mabel Thimmig and four sisters-in-law, Olga Pederson, Martha Wasmuth and Gertrude Blanke and Lorraine Wittkopp.

Funeral services were held Sunday evening, Jan. 12, at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. The Rev. Nathan Meador and the Rev. Thomas Burton co-officiated. Burial took place in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

A memorial fund is being established in her name for St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
