THOMAS J. “TOM” SAGAL

Thomas J. “Tom” Sagal, age 62, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Friday morning, Jan. 17, 2014, at Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center where he had been a patient for the past two days.

He was born Nov. 16, 1951 in Madison, Wis., a son of the late William and Catherine (Gorman) Sagal. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1969 and graduated from Brown Institute in Minneapolis in 1971 in broadcasting.

On July 6, 1974, he married Edith Rosenthal at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan. The couple lived in the Sheboygan area until 1986, moving to Plymouth.

He was a radio broadcaster for WPLY, WKTS and WHBL. He was employed at Plymouth Utilities from 1985-2007.

He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel #1789 in Plymouth.

Tom’s passion in life was music, being a DJ for radio or family events and also enjoyed karaoke. He was known as the family videographer.

He was a big Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed attending his son’s softball games.

Survivors include his son, Nick (Sara) Sagal of Wrightstown; former wife, Edith Sagal of Plymouth; five brothers and sisters: Deb (Rick) Nicolaus of Tomah and their children: Bryan (Echo) Nicolaus, Eric (Jenny) Nicolaus and Dano Nicolaus; David Sagal (companion, Elizabeth) of Elkhart Lake; Jill (Dan) Mountain of Kiel; Dan (Kari) Sagal of Oconomowoc and their children: Kailee, Ashlee and Sydnee Sagal; and William (Sue) Sagal of Howard and their children: Mandi and Tyler Sagal; extended family: Loren (Susan) Rosenthal of Los Gatos, Calif.; Jane (Michael) Pratt of Appleton; Keith (Donna) Rosenthal of Columbus, Ohio; Bruce Rosenthal of Atlanta, Ga.; Lois (Jon) Seitenzahl of Sheboygan and Andy Rosenthal of Minneapolis, Minn.; and also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Following Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial prayer service was held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 19, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Father Wayne Bittner officiated.

A memorial fund is being established in Tom’s name.
