Developmental screening set

The Plymouth School District is now taking appointments for its Child Development Day, a free developmental screening program for young children.

Screenings will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Horizon Elementary School, 411 S. Highland Ave., Plymouth. Appointments are available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The program is open to district residents ages 2½ through 4 who have not yet started school.

The free screening helps identify if children are appropriately developing in many areas, including: physical, sensory, personal/ social, adaptive, gross and fine motor, communication and cognitive. All information gathered is confidential.

School professionals will be on hand to answer questions parents may have about their child’s development. Information from community resources also will be available.

The screening process takes approximately one hour. Each child will be provided a small snack and a bag of age-appropriate materials.
