Wiese earns second in tourney

Wiese won, 9-7, and went on to place second. — Submitted photo FORT ATKINSON – Senior Austin Wiese of Plymouth placed second at 152 pounds in the Terry Kramer Open wrestling tournament here Saturday.

Wiese, who returned to action after missing part of the season with a knee injury, was 4-1 in the tourney as he improved to 13-3 overall. He lost by a 7-2 decision to Oshkosh West’s Tim Schumann in the title match. Schumann is 27-4 on the season.

Wiese scored two pins and a pair of decisions in the tourney. One of his decisions (5-0) came against Cedarburg’s Ryder Sigler who sports a 27-8 record.

The Kramer Open was an addition to the PHS schedule. Only three Panthers competed in the tournament. Also wrestling were freshman Erik Ohman who placed sixth at 126 and junior Lucas Johnson who took ninth at 138.

Ohman posted a 3-2 record, including two falls. Johnson was 3-1 with a bye.

Cedarburg won the 16-team tourney with 459½ points.
