Robert J. “Bob” Thomas, age 72, of the town of Mitchell, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Rocky Knoll Nursing Home.

Bob was born June 30, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wis., a son of the late Henry and Libby (Primakow) Thomas. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1959.

On Aug. 1, 1959, he married Shirley “Deanna” Turk at Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia. The couple have resided in Sheboygan County since their marriage.

Bob worked at A.O. Smith for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

He was an active member at Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia.

Robert was an influential member of F&AM Lodge #167 in Plymouth. He was a 32nd Degree F&AM and also belonged to the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Commandry, Tall Cedars, Eastern Star and loved being the “Snoopy” character for the Tripoli Shriners Animal Unit.

He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his loving family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley “Deanna” of Cascade, Wis.; three children: Scott Thomas of Oswego, Ill.; Shellie (Bill) Werner of Randolph, Wis., and Jackie Derus-Meyer (husband, Patrick) of Cascade; 10 grandchildren: Alex, Shannon, Matthew, Zach, Josh, Paige, Brandon, Emma, Evan and AJ; one great-grandson, Collin; one brother, Rick Thomas of Cascade; two sisters, Joan Herriges of Sheboygan and Sandy Thomas of Two Rivers; and also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother, Henry Silas Thomas.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Feb. 2, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Gail Mitchell, pastor of Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia, officiated. Cremation followed services.

The F&AM Lodge #167 of Plymouth conducted Masonic services at the funeral home Sunday afternoon preceding funeral services.

A memorial fund is being established in Bob’s name.
