Big D propels Tigers to win over Rams

HOWARDS GROVE – Defense was the name of the game for the Howards Grove Tigers as they clamped down on Random Lake’s attack en route to a 36-21 girls basketball win here Saturday night.

The Tigers raised their Central Lakeshore Conference record to 7-4 (8-8 overall). The Rams fell to 0-11 in the CLC (3-12 overall).

Howards held the Rams to single digit scoring in every quarter. Random Lake made only six field goals.

“It was a great team win to get for the seniors on Senior Night. We had a lot of offensive balance and our team defense again was the difference in the game,” said Tiger head coach Heidi Georgeff.

Morgan Edge and Courtney Milz led the Tigers in scoring with nine points each. Milz also had a team-high three assists.

Haley Rautmann paced Howards in rebounds with six. Brittany Schaller led in steals with three.

Field goals: Howards Grove 14-51, 27%. Free throws: Random Lake 6-12, 50%; Howards Grove 6-8, 75%.

Rebounds: Howards Grove 29. Turnovers: Howards Grove 10.
