Strong first half lifts Crusaders over Tigers

SHEBOYGAN – The Sheboygan Lutheran Crusaders outscored the Howards Grove Tigers 30-21 in the first half to pave the way for a 54-44 win in Central Lakeshore Conference girls basketball action here Tuesday night.

Senior guard Danielle Byrum spearheaded a well-rounded Crusader offense with 16 points. Lori Herdic and Emily Sass chipped in with 11 and 10, respectively.

The high scorer for the Tigers was senior forward Taylor Beninghaus with 14, followed by freshman guard Brittany Schaller with 13.

The Tigers slipped to 7-5 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (8-9 overall). Lutheran upped its CLC record to 6-4 (10-8 overall).

Howards shot only 31 percent (17 of 54) from the field and was just 7 of 12 at the foul line.

Taylor Beninghaus led the _ ______________ Tigers on the boards with 11 rebounds. Schaller handed out a team-high five assists.

Byrum had an outstanding overall game as she also had a team-leading seven assists and eight rebounds. Erin Quam also grabbed eight boards.
