Panthers rout TR, finish 14-0 in EWC

TWO RIVERS – The Plymouth Panthers climaxed their Eastern Wisconsin Conference boys basketball championship season with an unbeaten record as they clobbered Two Rivers, 65-36, here Thursday night.

PHS, which has won three straight league titles, finished the regular season 14-0 in the EWC and 19-3 overall. The last time the Panthers were undefeated in the league was the 2007-08 season. PHS ran its winning streak to nine.

The Panthers begin Division 2 regional play Friday at home against Slinger at 7 p.m. in a semifinal game.

PHS put the game away by outscoring the Purple Raiders 37-10 in the first half. Two Rivers finished 7-7 in the EWC and ended the regular season at 12-10.

Senior guard Kollin Neils sparked the PHS attack with 26 points. Senior forward Eric Nygaard had a doubledouble with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Nygaard also led in steals with two and blocked shots, two.

Senior forward Tom Jankowski paced the Panthers in assists with seven and also grabbed six boards.

“A good game for us – undefeated in conference. We played with a lot of energy and enthusiasm in the first half,” said PHS head coach Jason Duff.

“We had a few breakdowns in the third but all in all, it was a good win.”


The Panthers capped off an outstanding freshman season with an 83-29 rout. PHS placed first in the EWC at 14-0 and chalked up a 19-1 overall record.

Cody Kuhn led PHS in scoring with 16 points. Alex Shutter and Jake Steinhardt added

15 each. Ten of the 11 Panthers scored.

“As a team, we saw signifi- cant improvement throughout the season in all facets of the game,” said Panther coach Scott Richards.
